At HuntGo, we believe it is important that you know what personal data we use, why we need it and how we handle it. In this Privacy Policy, we explain this as clearly as possible. HuntGo is a GPS game played outdoors in the real world. This means that some data, such as location data during an active Hunt, is necessary for the game to work properly.

Who is responsible for your data?

What data may we process?

The data we process depends on how you use HuntGo. This may include:

your HuntGo player name;
your email address;
your date of birth or age;
account and profile information;
level, XP, badges, achievements and other game progress;
information about Hunts you participate in;
friends, lobbies and other social features within HuntGo;
device and technical data needed to keep the app working properly and securely;
location data while using GPS game features;
information you provide to us when you contact HuntGo.

We aim to collect only the personal data that is necessary to operate, secure and improve HuntGo.

Location data during a Hunt

HuntGo uses GPS to process players, playing areas and other parts of a Hunt on the map. During an active Hunt, your location may therefore be used to enable game features. Depending on the game mode, your location may temporarily be visible to other participants in the same Hunt, such as teammates, opponents, the host or a supervisor when this is part of the game. HuntGo does not use location data to unnecessarily track players outside the game. The exact retention period and technical setup for location data will be limited to what is necessary to operate, secure and, where needed, investigate a Hunt.

What do we use your data for?

We may use personal data to:

create and manage your HuntGo account;
allow you to participate in Hunts;
enable GPS and map features;
track game progress, levels, XP, achievements and other results;
enable friends, lobby and team features;
support safety and fair play;
investigate or prevent misuse, fraud and cheating;
resolve technical issues;
improve the operation and security of HuntGo;
respond to questions and support requests;
comply with legal obligations.

Children and parental consent

HuntGo is intended for players aged 6 and up. For younger players, parental consent may be required before a HuntGo account can be fully used. When consent is required, HuntGo may ask for the email address of a parent or legal guardian during account creation. The parent or guardian will then receive a secure personal link where the consent request can be reviewed and confirmed. We take extra care when processing children’s data and aim to explain information as clearly as possible. Rules for parental consent may differ by country. HuntGo may therefore adjust age limits and consent requirements to comply with applicable laws.

Who do we share data with?

We do not sell personal data. To operate HuntGo, we may use technical service providers for services such as hosting, databases, authentication, security, error reporting, email and other necessary infrastructure. These parties may only process data for the services they provide to HuntGo and in accordance with the applicable agreements. Within a Hunt, certain game data may be shared with other participants when this is necessary for the selected game mode. We may also provide data when legally required or when necessary to protect HuntGo, our users or others.

How long do we keep data?

We do not keep personal data longer than necessary for the purpose for which it was collected. The exact retention period depends on the type of data. Account data may be stored for as long as the HuntGo account remains active. Temporary technical, safety and location data may have a shorter retention period. After an account is deleted, we delete or anonymise the related personal data where we no longer need to keep it. Some data may be stored for longer when this is necessary because of a legal obligation, security, fraud prevention or the handling of a dispute.

How do we protect your data?

We take technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or accidental changes. However, no digital system can guarantee complete security. We therefore continue to review and improve our security and technical measures.

Your privacy rights

Depending on the situation and applicable law, you may have the right to:

know what personal data we process about you;
access your personal data;
have incorrect information corrected;
have data deleted;
restrict the processing of your data;
object to certain types of processing;
have your data transferred where this right applies;
withdraw your consent when processing is based on consent.

Deleting your HuntGo account

Do you have access to the HuntGo app? You can delete your account via: Profile → Settings → Account → Delete Account Do you no longer have access to the app? You can submit a deletion request through our Delete Account page. After verification, we will delete the account and the related personal data, except for data that we are still required to keep because of a legal obligation, security, fraud prevention or another valid reason.

Cookies and the website

The HuntGo website may use technical cookies or similar technologies that are necessary for the website to function properly. If we use analytical, advertising or other non-essential cookies in the future that require consent, we will provide the required choice before using them.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

HuntGo continues to develop. This means that this Privacy Policy may be updated in the future. If important changes affect the way we process personal data, we will inform users where necessary. The most recent version of the Privacy Policy will remain available on this page.
